Cassiopeia 85mm
Cassiopeia
This marks my third October composition focusing on Cassiopeia and this time I went with the whole constellation.
The long exposures combined with the Astronomik CLS filter brings out all the deep nebula activity surrounding the Queen.
Object: Cassiopeia and neighboring Nebula
Exposure: 95x105s (2 hours 40 minutes, 50 darks, 50 bias, 50 flats)
Bortle scale: 4
Optics: Rokinon RF 85mm f/1.4 shot at f/2.0
Camera: Canon EOS Ra
Mount: Star Adventurer
Filters: Astronomik CLS
Software: DeepSkyStacker, Photoshop
Notes: One of my favorite deep sky images I've done so far. I had the goal of shooting all night but did have a few challenges. 1. Forecast called for clear skies but the mountains had different plans causing me to lose 1/2 of my subs. 2. My camera battery died 2 hours before I had planned the shoot to end. Framing and capturing all the activity around Cass is incredible to see and this was a terrific project that I'm extremely happy with.
